Martha Ellis was born on March 6th, 1866. Martha Ellis' father was Joseph Poe Nichols and her mother was Pantheah Royall Overbey. Her maternal grandparents were Henderson Overbey and Elizabeth Royster. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Robert Coleman, Thomas Franklin, Henderson Arthur, Joseph Lee, Elizabeth Elenor, Mary Matilda, Nellie, William Walter, Carrie and Katie. She was the fifth oldest of the eleven children.-
