Joseph Lee was born on May 8th, 1875. Joseph Lee's father was Joseph Poe Nichols and his mother was Pantheah Royall Overbey. His maternal grandparents were Henderson Overbey and Elizabeth Royster. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Robert Coleman, Thomas Franklin, Henderson Arthur, Elizabeth Elenor, Mary Matilda, Martha Ellis, Nellie, William Walter, Carrie and Katie. He was the fourth youngest of the eleven children.-
