Thomas Mifflin was born on July 16th, 1883 in Richmond, VA. Thomas Mifflin's father was Thomas Mifflin Ladd and his mother was Sarah Mildred King. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Mifflin Ladd and Lucy Elizabeth Cowardin; his maternal grandfather was Nathan King. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Bernard Goodall, Robert Hill, James Russell, Lucy Winston, Ellen Douglas and Sarah Mildred. He was the second youngest of the seven children. He had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Edward Quarles, Walter Ira, Marion Calvin, Annie Elizabeth, Eva Frances, Ora Lou and Ota Lee.-
