Margaret Ann was born on May 4th, 1827 in "Red Hill", Charlotte Co., Virginia. Margaret Ann's father was John Henry and her mother was Elvira Bruce McClelland. Her paternal grandparents were Patrick Henry and Dorothea Dandridge; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Stanhope McClelland and Margaret Cabell. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William Wirt, Thomas Stanhope McClelland, John, Elvira, Laura Helen and Emma Cabell. She was the oldest of the seven children.-
