Alexander Spotswood 
Alexander was born in 1676. Alexander's father was Robert Spotswood and his mother was Catherine Mercer. His paternal grandparents were Robert Spotswood and Bethia Morrison. He was an only child. He died at the age of 64 on June 7th, 1740.General Notes
SPOTTSWOOD, ALEXANDER, (1676-1740) Officer in the British army. Appointed Governor of VA 1710, Governor 1710-1722. Postmaster General of the Colonies 1730-39. Married Anne Butler Brayne, daughter of Edward Brayne.
