Charlotte Y. was born on February 11th, 1853. Charlotte Y.'s father was George Richard Crowson Harless and her mother was Piety Butler. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Harless and Margaret Basore; her maternal grandparents were James McGehee Butler and Candace Dicey. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Henry N., Robert E., James Lafayette, John Thomas, Benjamin Franklin, J. M. L. Curry, William M., Elizabeth and Mary Jane. She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.-
