John was born in 1808 in Milton Next Sittingbourne, Kent, England.1   John's father was Edward ELLICE and his mother was Ann. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, George, James Saxby, Elizabeth, Ann Maria, Amy and Amy Friday.  He was the third youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 66 in 1874 in Milton Next Sittingbourne, Kent, England.1
