David was born in 1786 in Leeds, Kent.  David's father was James BOULDEN and his mother was Catherine PATTENDEN.  His paternal grandparents were David BOULDEN and Sarah STANLEY. He had three brothers and two sisters, named James, George, Thomas Tonge, Ann and Sarah.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
