Laurania Annie was born in August 1844 in West Point, Clay, Mississippi. Laurania Annie's father was John Wesley Gilbert and her mother was Sarah Broughton. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named Jackson Marion, Franklin Monroe, John Wesley, Allen Broughton, Thomas, Zachariah Taylor, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Twin and Twin. She died at the age of 87 on March 12th, 1932 in Irving, Dallas, Texas.
