Jackson Marion was born in July 1829 in , , Georgia.  Jackson Marion's father was John Wesley Gilbert and his mother was Sarah Broughton. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Franklin Monroe, John Wesley, Allen Broughton, Thomas, Zachariah Taylor, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Twin, Twin and Laurania Annie.  He died at the age of 86 on November 17th, 1915 in Lewisville, Denton, Texas.
