Franklin Monroe was born on April 2nd, 1833 in , , Georgia.  Franklin Monroe's father was John Wesley Gilbert and his mother was Sarah Broughton. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Jackson Marion, John Wesley, Allen Broughton, Thomas, Zachariah Taylor, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Twin, Twin and Laurania Annie.  He died at the age of 85 on March 29th, 1919 in Lewisville, Denton, Texas.
