Zachariah Taylor was born in 1849 in West Point, Clay, Mississippi.  Zachariah Taylor's father was John Wesley Gilbert and his mother was Sarah Broughton. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Jackson Marion, Franklin Monroe, John Wesley, Allen Broughton, Thomas, Henry Clay, Daniel Webster, Twin, Twin and Laurania Annie.  He died at the age of 33 in 1882 in , , Louisiana.
