Henry BROWN

Henry was born in 1818 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.¹

  Henry`s birth date from the IGI. Other information from BMD and 1841 & 1851 census Henry married Isabella in South Shields. GRO ref:- S Shields 24 584 Dec 1/4 1839 In the 1841 census the family were living in `Pier` and in 1851 were at 51 The Cragg. In 1861 the family were still at The Cragg but Henry was dead as the census shows Isabella as a widow. Henry must > have died sometime after the birth of Ann and 1861. There is a Bmd ref:- Whitby 9d 279 Jun 1/4 1858 which is most likely Henry.

Henry's father was Joseph BROWN and his mother was Eleanor STAINTHORP. His paternal grandparents were William BROWN and Ann HUMBLE; his maternal grandparents were Francis STAINTHORP and Lucy SMITH. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, Joseph, George, Robert, John, Eleanor, Lucy, Francis and Mary Jane. He was the third oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 40 on June 9th, 1858 in Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.²
