Richard was born in 1400 in Raby, Durham, England.  Richard's father was Ralph de Neville and his mother was Joan de Beaufort.  His paternal grandparents were John de Neville and Maud de Percy; his maternal grandparents were John Plantagenet of Gaunt and Catherine Swynford Roet. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Henry, William, Thomas, Robert, George, Cuthbert, Edward, Eleanor, Anne, Cicely, Joan and Catherine. He had two half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named John de Neville of, Ralph de Neville of, Alice, Anastasia, Anne, Elizabeth, Maude, Philippa, Margaret, Elizabeth and Mary.  He died at the age of 60 on December 30th, 1460 in Battle of Wakefield, Yorkshire, England.

‌Richard and Alice were married in a religious ceremony in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.  They had four sons and six daughters, named Richard, Thomas, John, George, Joan, Cecille, Margaret, Alice, Eleanor and Catherine.
