Joan was born about 1379 in Beaufort Castle/Chateau de Beaufort, Maine-et-Loire, France.  Joan's father was John Plantagenet of Gaunt and her mother was Catherine Swynford Roet.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward III Plantagenet of England and Philippa of Hainault; her maternal grandparents were Payne de Roet and Mrs. de Roet. She had three brothers named John, Henry and Thomas. She had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Edward, John, John, Henry IV Bolingbroke Plantagenet of, John, Philippa Plantagenet of, Elizabeth Plantagenet of, Isabel, Katherine Plantagenet of and Blanche.  She died on November 13th, 1440 in Howden, Yorkshire, England.  She was buried in Lincoln Cathedral.

‌Joan and Robert of Wemme were married in a religious ceremony before September 30th, 1394.  They had two daughters named Elizabeth and Mary.


Joan's second family with Ralph de Neville

‌Joan and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony in Chateau de Beaufort, Meuse-Et-Loire, France.  They had eight sons and five daughters, named Henry, Richard, William, Thomas, Robert, George, Cuthbert, Edward, Eleanor, Anne, Cicely, Joan and Catherine.
