Robert VI the Competitor was born in 1210 in Annandale, Dumfrieshire, Scotland.  Robert VI the Competitor's father was Robert V de Bruce and his mother was Isobella Dunkeld le Scot of Huntington.  His paternal grandfather was William de Bruce and his paternal grandmother is UNKNOWN Christine; his maternal grandparents were David Dunkeld of Huntingdon and Mabel de Kevelioc de Meschines of Chester. He had a brother named Edward.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-sister named Beatrice.  He died at the age of 85 on March 31st, 1295 in Lochmaben Castle Priory, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.  He was buried on April 1st, 1295.

‌Robert VI the Competitor and Isabel were married in a religious ceremony on May 12th, 1240 in Scotland.  They had four sons and a daughter, named Robert VII, Richard, William, Bernard of Conington and and Laderina.
