Margaret the Exile was born in 1045 in Hungary.  Margaret the Exile's father was Edward the Outlaw Atheling of England and her mother was Agatha von Braunschweig\Brunswick of Hungary.  Her paternal grandfather was Edmund II Ironsides of England and her paternal grandmother is Ealdgyth of Northumbria; her maternal grandfather was Henry II of Germany. She had a brother and a sister, named Edgar (Eadgar) the Exile Atheling of and Christina.  She died at the age of 48 on November 16th, 1093 in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland.  She was buried in 1093 in Lady Chapel, Dunfermline Abbey, Fife, Scotland.

‌Margaret the Exile and Malcolm III Caennmor Dunkeld of were married in a religious ceremony in 1068 in Dunfermline Abbey, Fife, Scotland.  They had six sons and two daughters, named Edward of, Edmund I Dunkeld of, Ethelred of, Edgar Dunkeld of, Alexander I the Fierce of, David I the Saint of, Matilda Edith Atheling of and Mary of.
