William II was born about 1207 in Blyth, Nottinghamshire, England.  William II's father was William I Longespee and his mother was Ela FitzPatrick de Salisbury.  His paternal grandparents were Henry II Curtmantle FitzEmpress of England and Rosamund de Clifford; his maternal grandparents were William FitzPatrick and Eleanor de Vitre. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Stephen, Nicholas, Richard, Isabel, Iodonea, Lora and Petronilla.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.


William II's first family with Idoine de Camville

‌William II and Idoine were married in a religious ceremony after April 1216.  They had two daughters named Ela and Ida.


William II's second family with Maud de Clifford

‌William II and Maud were married in a religious ceremony on April 30th, 1244.  They had a daughter named Margaret.
