Nettie Marguerite was born on October 1st, 1922.1 Nettie Marguerite's father was Charles Edward Carter and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Keahey. Her maternal grandparents were William A. Byrum Keahey and Isadora McGraw. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Garland Lee, Orman Guy, Ben Franklin, Francis Marion, Royal Lester, Gertrude Estelle, Eddie Marie and Doris Lavine.
