Mary Valentine was born on February 14th, 1895 in Bellville, Republic Co., Kansas.1 Mary Valentine's father was William Edward Basham and her mother was Cora Bell Powers. Her paternal grandparents were Nathan Basham and Anna Miller; her maternal grandfather was Alonzo Powers and her maternal grandmother is Mary Nelson. She had eight brothers named Harry Edward, Alton Wesley (Pat), Floyd Mason (Dutch), Richard Alvin (Dick), Clyde Clelles (Slim), William Alonzo (Bill), Ralph Nathan (Red) and Harold 'Lester'. She was the third oldest of the nine children. She died about 1909 in Creston, Flathead Co., Montana.1 General Notes
