William Edward was born on August 5th, 1853 in Cook Co., Illinois.1 William Edward's father was Nathan Basham and his mother was Anna Miller. His paternal grandparents were John Basham and Mary (Polly) Martin. He had two brothers and six sisters, named John W., Isaac M. 'Ike', Susan, Sarah, Lurissa A., Mary E., Olive H. and Celestia.
