Amos was born on April 4th, 1787 in ,,Lancaster Co,Pennsylvania. Amos' father was George Crosby and his mother was Susanna Evans. His maternal grandparents were Amos Evans and Christiana UNKNOWN. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Joshua E, Rebecca Elizabeth, Esther and Sarah. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 82 on August 29th, 1869 in ,Spring Hill,Augusta Co,Virginia. He was buried in Crosby Cem.,Churchville,Augusta Co,Virginia.General Notes

His plantation is still standing today and is called Bellemonte. It is currently valued at $1.2 million. It was burned and rebuilt by Amos. The family had to leave the farm during the Civil War when the Northern troops marched through Augusta Co. The family barely had time to grab the children and some of their possessions before the advancing troops arrived. The family he sold the land to was a relative (Bartenslagers?). She was kin to our family per Sadie Froom. He was a lawyer.

TOMBSTONE: Amos Crosby died Aug 29 1869 Aged 83. He has his own family cemetery on his land at top of small hill. Fenced and maintained. Family Bible also states he died August 29, 1869.
Parents: Father proven by will of his father. Both proven on DAR papers of descendents and family records written by his grandson John Crosby.
