Gilbert The Red Earl De was born on September 2nd, 1243 in Christ Church, Hampshire, England.  Gilbert The Red Earl De's father was Richard De Clare and his mother was Maud De Lacy.  His paternal grandparents were Gilbert De Clare and Isabel Marshal; his maternal grandparents were John De Lacy and Margaret De Quincy. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas De and Roese Rohesia De.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 52 on December 7th, 1295 in Monmouth Castle, Monmouthshire, Wales.  He was buried on December 22nd, 1295 in Tewksbury Abbey, Tewksbury, Gloucestershire, England.
