William The Protector was born in 1146 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales.  William The Protector's father was John The Marshal Fitzgilbert and his mother was Sibilla Sibyl De Salisbury.  His paternal grandparents were Gilbert Le Marshal and Miss De Venuz; his maternal grandparents were Walter De Enreux and Sybil De Chaworth. He had a sister named Margaret Fitzgilbert.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 73 on May 14th, 1219 in Caversham Manor, England.  He was buried in May 1219 in Temple Church, London, Middlesex, England.


William The Protector's family with Isabel De Clare

‌William The Protector and Isabel De were married in a religious ceremony in August 1189 in London, Middlesex, England.  They had a son and five daughters, named Gilbert VII Earl Of Pembroke, Sybil, Maud, Eve, Isabel and Joane.
