Roger De was born in 1116 in Tunbridge Castle, Kent, England.  Roger De's father was Richard Fitzgilbert De Clare and his mother was Adeliza Alice De Meschines.  His paternal grandparents were Gilbert Fitz Richard De Clare and Adeliza De Claremont; his maternal grandparents were Ranulph De Meschines and Lucy Lucia Of Mercia. He had two sisters named Adeliza De and Rohese De.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roger De and Isabel De.  He died at the age of 57 in 1173 in Oxfordshire, England.  He was buried in Eynsham Priory, Oxfordshire, England.

‌Roger De and Maud Matilda De were married in a religious ceremony about 1153 in Dalling, Norfolk, England.  They had a son and three daughters, named Richard De, Elana De, Mabel De and Eveline Aveline De.
