Robert Caen of Gloucester was born about 1090 in Caen, Normandy, France.  Robert Caen of Gloucester's father was King Henry I of England (Beauclerc) and his mother was Sybilla Corbet.  His paternal grandparents were King William I of England (The Conqueror) and Mathildeof Flandres; his maternal grandfather was Sir Robert Corbet. He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Robert, Robert, "The Consul", Reginald Dunstanville, Herbert fitz Herbert of Winchester, Mathilda of England, Elizabeth of England, Matilda or Maud and Elizabeth.  He died on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol, Glou, England..  He was buried in Bristol, Glou, England..
