Robert, known as "The Consul", was born about 1090 in of Caen,Normandy.  "The Consul"'s father was Henry I "Beauclerc" , King of England and his mother was Sybilla Corbet.  His paternal grandparents were King William The Conqueror and Matilda de Flanders; his maternal grandfather was Sir Robert Corbet. He had nine half-brothers and twelve half-sisters, named William , Prince, William, Henry, Reynold, Robert Caen of Gloucester, Robert, Robert, Reginald Dunstanville, Herbert fitz Herbert of Winchester, Matilda, Eustacia, Grace, Elizabeth, Matilda, Alice, Maud, Constance, Rohese, Rohese, Matilda or Maud and Elizabeth.  He died on October 31st, 1147 in Bristol,Gloucester,England.
