Richard I deClare Earl of was born on August 4th, 1222 in Mellent, Gloucester, England.  Richard I deClare Earl of's father was Earl Gilbert de Clare and his mother was Isabel Marshall.  His paternal grandparents were Earl Richard de Clare and Countess Amicia FitzRobert; his maternal grandparents were William Marshall Earl of Pembroke and Elizabeth deClare Countess of Strigoil.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 39 on July 15th, 1262 in Ashenfield, Canterbury, Kent.
