William deFerrers VI Earl of was born about 1162 in Ferrers, derbyshire, England.  William deFerrers VI Earl of's father was Earl William de Ferrers and his mother was Sybil de Braose.  His paternal grandparents were Earl Robert de Ferrers and Countess Margaret de Peverel; his maternal grandparents were William II de Braose and Bertha de Gloucester. He had a brother and three sisters, named Robert, Isabel, Agatha and Millicent.  He was the oldest of the five children. He had a half-sister named Isabel.  He died on September 22nd, 1247.
