James Shields 
James was born on July 27th, 1861 in Monroe County, Indiana. James' father was Joseph Lindsey Shields and his mother was Eliza Jane Whitsell. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Charles H., Joseph Leonard, John G., David, George Washington, Mary E. and Sarah Cynthia. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 67 on January 1st, 1929 in Monroe County, Indiana.General Notes
