David Shields 
David was born on October 25th, 1862 in Monroe County, Indiana. David's father was Joseph Lindsey Shields and his mother was Eliza Jane Whitsell. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Shields and Sarah "Sally" Masterson. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Charles H., Joseph Leonard, John G., James, George Washington, Mary E. and Sarah Cynthia. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 46 on November 26th, 1908 in Clear Creek, Monroe Co., Indiana. He was buried in Knight Ridge Cemetery, Salt Creek Twp., Monroe Co., Indiana.-
