James Gordon 
James was born on July 2nd, 1779 in , Halifax, North Carolina. James' father was John Gordon and his mother was Anna Haynes. His paternal grandfather was John Gordon; his maternal grandparents were Francis Bythell Haynes and Anne Bell. He had five brothers and six sisters, named John, Thomas, William, Joseph, George Haynes, Nancy Ann, Mary Margaret, Elizabeth, Lucy, Elizabeth and Sarah. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 61 in May 1841 in , Cole, Missouri.-
