Ela his wife survived him, and married secondly, Philip Bassett, of Heddington, co. Oxon., and survived him likewise. She became a benefactress to the Abbeys of Oseney and Reading, and to the University of Oxford.[137] She died very aged about 1300, and was buried before the high altar of Oseney Abbey at the head of Henry D'Oyly's tomb. Her masses there were celebrated with both a deacon and subdeacon on the 22d February and 23d November.
