    • Winnie Matherstood second left wearing glasses was a member of the South Manchester Cycling Club in the 1940's a keen cyclists.  Sue can remember her telling me she that was thirlled to say she used to cycle with regular a Reg Harrison not Rex (he was the actor).

      I think it was Reg but anyway he went on to become a Olympic cyclist either Great Britian champion or World can not remember but Mum was always proud of knowing him, other Ladys in photo not know, just club friends.

    • Winnie Doxey (nee Mather) (Sue's Mum) and Evelyn Mather (nee Martin) getting into the party swing.
Winnifred, known as Winnie, was born on October 26th, 1917 in Longsight.1  Winnie's father was Richard (Dick) Mather and her mother was Lilly (Lil) Mercer.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph (Joe) Mather and Ellen Tomlinson; her maternal grandparents were John Robert Mercer and Emily Anne Herring. She had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Joe, Elsie, Nellie and Alice.  She was the second youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 86 on July 12th, 2004 in Gosford.  She was buried in July 2004 in New South Wales.2 3

‌Winnie and Laurie were married in a religious ceremony on December 6th, 1952 at Slade Lane Baptist.1  They had a daughter named Sue.  There are no more children.
