Helen was born in 1764 in Haslingden and her baptism took place there in 1764.1  Helen's father was John Howarth and her mother was Silence  Duckworth. She had four brothers and six sisters, named Dennis, Jacob, John, James, Jane, Alice, Ann, Silence, Sarah and Sarah.
