Sarah was born in 1809.  Sarah's father was William Hodge Boalch and her mother is Phoebe Litton.  Her paternal grandparents are John Boalch and Mary Hodge. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, William, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth.  She is the sixth oldest of the seven children.
