Magdalen was born on September 30th, 1922.  Magdalen's father was Joseph Lambert Gaspar and her mother was Anna Elizabeth Wieseler.  Her paternal grandparents were Lampert Gaspard and Julia Meyer; her maternal grandparents were Henry Wieseler and Renata Schmidt.  She had five brothers and four sisters, named Raymond, Isidore, Leo, Michael, Harry, Renata, Mary, Florence and Leona.  She is the sixth oldest of the ten children.
