Barbera was born on November 25th, 1946.  Barbera's father is Ralph Bode and her mother is Irene Gaspar.  Her maternal grandfather was John  (Bill) William Gaspar and her maternal grandmother is Veronica (Fron) Hardes.  She has two brothers and three sisters, named Steven, Robert, Sandra, Susan and Mary.  She is the oldest of the six children.
