Thomas was born in July 1770.  Thomas' father was Martin Skewes and his mother was Mary Polkinghorne.  His paternal grandparents were Martin Skewes and Mary Coad; his maternal grandparents are Joseph Polkinghorne and <Unknown>. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Martin, John, Peter, John, Elizabeth and Elizabeth.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 40 on May 21st, 1811.
