Walter was born in 1867.  Walter's father was Walter Thomson and his mother was Christina Lawson.  His paternal grandparents were Walter Thomson and Jane Adamson; his maternal grandparents were William Lawson and Ann Seath.  He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Christopher, David, Agnes, Annie, Ann, Mary and Catherine.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 85 in 1952.
