Walter was born in 1843.  Walter's father was Walter Thomson and his mother was Jane Adamson.  His paternal grandparents were Walter Thomson and Margaret Penman; his maternal grandparents were David Adamson and Janet Brown.  He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Alexander, William, Margaret, Jane and Martha.  He died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 83 in 1926.
