Max was born on March 13th, 1905 in Missouri. Max's father was James David Rickman and his mother was Ida Nora Purdy. His maternal grandparents were Smiley Albert Purdy and Susan Drucilla Webb (Purdy). He had two brothers and two sisters, named Harold, James, Helen and Rachel. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 63 on May 3rd, 1968 in Ventura, California.
