Elizabeth was born on October 23rd, 1796 in the Pendleton District of South Carolina.¹ Elizabeth's father was Elijah Mayfield and her mother was Elizabeth --- (Mayfield). Her paternal grandparents were James Mayfield Sr. and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and five sisters, named George, William, Rebeccah, Tabitha, Kiziah, Nancy and Mary. She was the third youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 68 on December 4th, 1864 in Effingham County, Illinois. She was buried at the Rentfro Cemetery.¹¹
