Tabitha was born about 1791 in South Carolina.  Tabitha's father was Elijah Mayfield and her mother was Elizabeth --- (Mayfield).  Her paternal grandparents were James Mayfield Sr. and <Unknown>. She had two brothers and five sisters, named George, William, Rebeccah, Kiziah, Nancy, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the eight children.  She died on October 24th, 1876 in Perry County, Tennessee.
