Bastiaantje was born on April 25th, 1809 in Aalburg and her baptism took place there on May 7th, 1809.1  Bastiaantje's father was Cornelis Verhagen and her mother was Pieternella van Wijk.  Her paternal grandparents were Arij Verhagen and Anneke Kameraad; her maternal grandparents are Gijsbert van Wijk and Maria van Kuijk. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Arien, Arien, Maria, Teuntje, Gijsbertje, Anneke, Bartieaantje and Pieternella.  She was the eighth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 3 on February 10th, 1813 in Aalburg.2
