Cornelis was born on March 18th, 1801 in IJsselstein and his baptism took place there on March 22nd, 1801.1  Cornelis' father was Cornelis Otterspoor and his mother was Cornelia Hoogendoorn.  His paternal grandparents were Johannes Pieterszn Otterspoor and Willemijntje van Rooyen; his maternal grandfather was Pieter Hoogendoorn and his maternal grandmother is Sandertje Ververs. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Jan, Pieter, Pieter, Sander, Willemijntje, Willemijntje, Pietertje and Sannetje.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Barent Dirkje, Kaatje, Antonia and Cornelia.  He died at the age of 54 on May 11th, 1855 in IJsselstein.2
