Jacomijna was born in 1761 in Loon op Zand and her baptism took place there on January 18th, 1761.1  Jacomijna's father was Dirk van der Leij and her mother was Dingena Hommel.  Her paternal grandparents were Wouter Goverdszn van der Leij and Dorothea Petersdr de Rooij; her maternal grandparents were Michiel Jacobszn Hommel and Jacomijna Willemsdr de Geus. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Wouter, Magiel, Peeter, Dingena, Doora and Jacoba.  She is the third oldest of the seven children.
