Doora was born in 1768 in Loon op Zand and her baptism took place there on May 12th, 1768.1  Doora's father was Dirk van der Leij and her mother was Dingena Hommel.  Her paternal grandparents were Wouter Goverdszn van der Leij and Dorothea Petersdr de Rooij; her maternal grandparents were Michiel Jacobszn Hommel and Jacomijna Willemsdr de Geus. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Wouter, Magiel, Peeter, Jacomijna, Dingena and Jacoba.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 61 on March 21st, 1829 in Loon op Zand.2
