Philip Willem was born in August 1684 and his baptism took place on August 9th, 1684 in Rijnsburg.1   His godfather was Philip Willem van Hoff and his godmother was Catharijn Heleen van Hoff. Philip Willem's father was Theophilus Copius and his mother was Elisabeth van Hoff.  His paternal grandparents were Theophilus Copius and Elisabeth Ackerman. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Karel, Theophilus, Maarten, Philip Willem, Adam, Margriet, Elisabeth Josijn and Catharina.  He was the sixth oldest of the nine children.  He died on August 13th, 1684.1
