Catharina was born in August 1687 and her baptism took place on August 17th, 1687 in Rijnsburg.1   Her godmother was Catharina van Sanen. Catharina's father was Theophilus Copius and her mother was Elisabeth van Hoff.  Her paternal grandparents were Theophilus Copius and Elisabeth Ackerman. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Karel, Theophilus, Maarten, Philip Willem, Philip Willem, Adam, Margriet and Elisabeth Josijn.  She was the eighth oldest of the nine children.
